Actually, the two pieces were shown with Tonto underneath the Lone Ranger, but I moved them to side by side to save space here. Both are shown with leatherette reins, though it is difficult to tell which horse mold Tonto is riding. The Lone Ranger is on the newer style walking horse with the wavy tail and he is riding his special new saddle. Quite a few other photographs of the Lone Ranger on the walking Silver show him with a Champ style saddle. Knowing the photographs had to be ready well before shipment of the Christmas catalogs, it is apparent that Hartland Plastics had this horse and saddle ready by the middle of 1956. |
