Mike Jackson’s Hartland Photos:
Appaloosa WesternHorses

Text & Photographs Copyright Mike Jackson 1998-2009

800 Series Appaloosa Western Horses were limited to only these two horses. They are quite striking!
Walking with slender tail:
This is the only horse used by Tom Jeffords. The horse was later sold separately as part of the Remuda grouping, but without the painted bridle. It was not used with any other rider. Like the paint on the Head Down Prancer below, the paint film is very thin and rubbed easily. The Jeffords’ horse shown in the brochure phote indicates this horse should have three white stockings, but I have never seen a production piece with it.
Gray Appaloosa with black points:
This was the standard mount for Johnny Yuma, the Rebel—Hartland’s last 800 series Western Horse and Rider set. It is fairly hard to find in general and it is very hard to find in near mint condition. The gray paint is very thin and wears easily. Some of these original horses had the little gold sticker on his rump indicating it was for the Rebel.
If you have, or know of any other Appaloosa horses, please let me know!
