Mike Jackson’s Hartland Photos:
Boxes

Text & Photographs Copyright Mike Jackson 1998-2008

Hartland originally shipped the sets in generic cardboard boxes—shown near the bottom. In time, they produced very colorful and creative boxes for most sets. In some cases, such as Lone Ranger/Tonto and Roy/Dale, they used the same covers and changed the top, bottom and ends. In later years, they shipped newly created sets in the versatile “Crystal Palace” box and simply changed the name on the box face, top and ends. The last set, The Rebel, did not even have his name on the front of the box. In fact, the only printing to denote him was a stick-on label. For the Preston box, they also created a label and simply pasted it over an existing O’Rorke box. All of the Champ sets shipped in the Generic Cardboard box.

Early LR Shipping Box
Many of the earliest sets probably shipped with a box similar to the ones above and to the left. I have heard of a Crocket box similar to the Tonto & LR boxes.
