The chart below comes from various years that Hartland gave information to the Wisconsin Manufacturers Association (1948-1960) to be included in the Classified Directory of Wisconsin Manufacturers. The information gives us insight into what Hartland was doing and when they were doing them. Of special interest, note that it wasn’t until 1955 that Hartland considered themselves in the toy business. This would indicate that they actually started making them in 1954. Also note the Diamond I brand used in 1954.
