500 Series Literature and Catalogs

This is a Dealer Sheet for the first set of Minis, dated 1960. The second set probably has a similar dealer sheet, too, but I have not seen one yet. On close inspection, it appears the sets shown here are actually 800 series sets painted to reflect the new colors of the Minis. More than likely, the Lone Ranger figure is actually a Roy Rogers figure painted blue with the mask added. That photo was the same one used in the consumer brochures.

Sears Catalogs

This catalog ad to the left shows the availablitiy of groupings of six Mini-Hartlands for $4.98. I don’t know if the set above came from Sears, but you can see the special shipping boxes and shipping carton and at least one shipping combination. Note Hardie on a Prancer and Dillon on a Semi-Rearing horse. |

This grouping of Minis appeared in a 1964 Dealer Catalog. I don't own an original of this piece, but you can at least make out the combinations.
What a mess! Just about every rider is on a horse not usually associated with the normal "named" figure. Now you can see why there is so much confusion about which figure went on which horse.

| This grouping of Mini Westerners appeared in a 1963 Spiegels Christmas Catalog. As you can see, the figures are all mixed up from their original configurations, including the hats. |
