Missing Champ Literature

I created this page originally back in 1997 right after I started setting up the site. It was difficult to find out much information about the beginnings of the Hartland Champ sets. Most documentation I could find suggested they were created as far back as 1947, however, I couldn't find much information about the horse and rider sets until around 1955 or so. You'd have thought at least "some" documents were out there showing the horse and riders during an eight year span. Right?

During the span of time from 1997 to now, I have been able to locate quite a few documents that fills in the missing information. Of course, there will always be new finds to fill in the voids and answer lingering questions. Certainly, if you have anything not shown on the site, please let me know.

For now, you can read more about this subject on two major pages on this site. The Mastercrafters Clock History documents the introduction of the first Hartland horse used on a clock mantle base in 1949 up to the introduction of the horse and rider sets. The Champ History page covers much of the same time span, with less about the clocks, and continues through the time Hartland discontinued the sets.
